In 2009 One-Third of Chinese Students Wanted to Be Hackers When They Grew Up- By Lance Winslow

For years, the Chinese government has claimed that it is not sponsoring military cyber warfare units to hack into US computer systems to steal proprietary information, or into our infrastructure to cause chaos. I wish it were true, but the fact is that they've been caught red-handed enough times by corporate IT security professionals, Department of Defense, and US government IT people - so we know that they are up to no good in this realm. We shouldn't be surprised.

There was an interesting article in Wired Magazine back in 2009 which noted that one-third of all Chinese students wanted to be hackers when they grew up, and wanted to be employed doing that kind of work. Imagine if that were true in the United States? Imagine for instance if one-third of all of the US students wanted to be hackers, and went forth out of their way to learn computer science and how to write code? Can you imagine the information revolution which would take place in our country and the world if that happened?
Well it's happening in China right now, so what does that mean for the future? Is any computer on this planet safe? No, not every Chinese student will become a world star hacker, many of them will not be able to bring forth their A-game to the Chinese military's cyber hacking command, but many of them will. Thus, one would wonder if we should rely on computer systems to run our infrastructure, banking system, stock market, military equipment, or anything else. How on earth could it all be safe?
We might think in the United States we are very clever with all of our IT software, and all of our computer systems. But that's what's running our civilization so, it's only good until the day it goes down. The day the world went dark, and everything was turned off at the same time. Yes, many in the IT security profession call this a "Cyber Pearl Harbor" and unfortunately it could happen tomorrow. Worse, everything is about to change with quantum computing. All your passwords will be of no value, and anyone can get into whatever you have - our government, their government, or even one of Chinese's patriot hackers, just for fun. This also includes cyber criminals and others.
Now then, I don't mean to burst your bubble, but your computer is not safe, nor is the Internet, nor is your money in the bank. In fact, knowing all this, we can even guarantee that you will have running water, energy, or fuel at the gas pump in the age of computers and hacking. Please consider all this and think on it.
