Clean the Installation Disc

Before starting the installation process clean the CD/DVD with a soft cloth. Insert it and restart the setup again. In case the problem is caused by dirt spots on the disc, it is highly likely that after cleaning the CD/DVD error will not appear again.

Replace the Installation Disc

Error 1305 in Office may occur when the installation CD ROM is scratched. A scratched disc makes it difficult for the system to access installation files and consequently such runtime errors occur. Replace your installation media to fix the problem.

Correct the Registry Configurations

Windows Registry contains several entries and configurations. If the registry is incorrectly modified, you may encounter Windows error 1305 in your Windows 7, Vista and XP during the installation of Microsoft Office or a similar software. Scan the registry using a Registry Cleaner software and remove the conflicting configurations found.

Stop/Remove Unnecessary Software

Stop/Remove the less important software running on your computer. Similarly stop unwanted system services running in the background. It may be the case you are facing the error due to conflicting services and/or due to the presence of invalid data in your system.

Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete.
The Task Manager will be launched.
Stop unnecessary programs and services from the respective Applications and Processes tabs.

Copy Setup Files to the Desktop and Start Installation

In order to stop error 1305 in Windows 7, Vista and XP, copy the setup files to your desktop and run the installer from here. Do these steps:

Insert the program installation disc.
Open My Computer.
Double click the disc drive to open.
Press Ctrl + A to select all the files & folders in the root directory.
Press Ctrl + C to prepare them for copying.
Minimize the window and create a new folder called Setup Files on your desktop.
Open it and press Ctrl + V to paste the copied files.
Launch the setup.exe or install.exe program from there.

Reconfigure Windows Startup Items

Using System Configuration tool, allow selective programs to start at Windows startup and disable processing 'System.ini' and 'Win.ini' files in order to repair Windows error 1305.

Press Windows Key + R.
Type MsConfig and press ENTER.
In the General tab, select the option Selective Startup.
For Windows XP users, uncheck the following boxes:
Process System.ini
Process Win.ini
Click Startup tab, and uncheck all the programs. Click Apply.
Click Services tab, and mark the box Hide All Microsoft Services as checked. Click Apply.
Click OK and restart the system when prompted.
